The Convergence Rate and Asymptotic Distribu- Tion of Bootstrap Quantile Variance Estimator for Importance Sampling

چکیده
Importance sampling is a widely used variance reduction technique to compute sample quantiles such as value-at-risk. The variance of the weight sample quantile estimator is usually a difficult quantity to compute. In this paper, we present the exact convergence rate and asymptotic distributions of the bootstrap variance estimators for quantiles of weighted empirical distributions. Under regularity conditions, we show that the bootstrap variance estimator is asymptotically normal and has relative standard deviation of order O(n−1/4).

متن کاملOptimum Block Size in Separate Block Bootstrap to Estimate the Variance of Sample Mean for Lattice Data
The statistical analysis of spatial data is usually done under Gaussian assumption for the underlying random field model. When this assumption is not satisfied, block bootstrap methods can be used to analyze spatial data. One of the crucial problems in this setting is specifying the block sizes. In this paper, we present asymptotic optimal block size for separate block bootstrap to estimate the...
متن کاملLarge Sample Behavior of the Cte and Var Estimators under Importance Sampling
The -level value at risk (VaR) and the -level conditional tail expectation (CTE) of a continuous random variable X are defined as its -level quantile (denoted by q ) and its conditional expectation given the event {X q }, respectively. VaR is a popular risk measure in the banking sector, for both external and internal reporting purposes, while the CTE has recently become the risk measure of cho...
متن کاملAnalysis of Record Data from the Scaled Logistic Distribution
In this paper, we consider the estimation of the unknown parameter of the scaled logistic distribution on the basis of record values. The maximum likelihood method does not provide an explicit estimator for the scale parameter. In this article, we present a simple method of deriving an explicit estimator by approximating the likelihood function. Bayes estimator is obtained using importance samp...
متن کاملAn Asymptotic Analysis of the Bootstrap Bias Correction for the Empirical Cte
The -level Conditional Tail Expectation (CTE) of a continuous random variable X is defined as its conditional expectation given the event {X q }, where q represents its -level quantile. It is well known that the empirical CTE (the average of the n(1 ) largest order statistics in a sample of size n) is a negatively biased estimator of the CTE. This bias vanishes as the sample size increases but ...
